Quick Wisconsin Getaway

Are you feeling burnt out?  Need to get away but you don’t have the time to travel to a faraway destination?  Then take a short trip to Wisconsin!  It is a great place for the fall colors, golf, wonderful beaches and parks along the fabulous Lake Michigan and Green Bay Lake.

Len and I took off on Saturday and drove to Mishicot, Wisconsin to the wonderful Fox Hills Resort where is stayed for one night, only a bit over 2 hours from home in West Elgin.  We had a great breakfast, included in the Golf Package $30.00 per person for 18 holes, WOW!

After golf, we left and stopped for a quick bite in Sturgeon Bay at a very cute restaurant by the Marina Area!

Another short 2 hours took us to Door County. We stopped at a Wine Tasting along the way, picked up 2 bottles of local wine.  Onto Sister Bay to the Scandinavia Lodge where we had a full kitchen (great for making breakfast), a full living room with Fireplace (not that we used it); 2 full bedrooms and bathrooms.  Yes for the 2 of us! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Al Johnson’s, famous for the goats on the roof!

We drove all the way to Gill’s Rock, the ferry to Washington Island, and all the way down to Egg Harbor.  We stopped at all sorts of shops for jams, spices, olive oils and fun different goodies.

Our last day, on our way home, we drove to another golf course located along the beautiful Green Bay Lake.

To wrap it up, 2 resorts, 2 rounds of golf, shopping, great meals and just one heck of a stress free get-a-way.
